Ep 12 F&F Review - Home-Made McDonald's Fries

In the twelfth episode of the Film and Food Podcast Chris and guest Charlie Bennett gave their film and food review of the 2016 film The Founder. This was such a great episode so make sure to check that episode out by clicking on the "Podcast" tab!

This recipe is one of three recipes for this episode and will help you to make your own McDonald's fries at home! These are crunchy, fluffy and incredibly addictive fries that are perfect with your favourite dipping sauce! Enjoy!

Home-Made McDonald's Fries Recipe:

The crux of this recipe is the parboiling that occurs before oven baking the fries, this helps cook the potato a little and allows for that crunch we all want!


Serves two generously as a side

- 1kg potatoes of your choice

- olive oil

- salt


1.Peel and wash potatoes. Fill a large pot with water and have ready to boil. Chop potatoes into thin 'fry-size' strips about 3-4cm long and 0.5cm wide roughly.

2. Place your fries into the pot of water and heat on high for ten minutes. The water shouldn't boil but if it does you can reduce the heat till medium. The fries should be a bit softer but still retaining its structure and shape. Meanwhile, heat a baking tray with a generous serve of olive oil in the oven for 5 minutes.

3. Take the fries out of the pot and dry thoroughly. Place fries onto the baking tray and bake for 20 minutes or until the fries are getting golden and are crunchy and cooked through when tasted.

4. Serve with a generous sprinkle of salt and enjoy hot out of the oven!

Makes a perfect pair with a burger!
