Pork Cubano Sandwich
Recipe commitment: Medium
This will make a perfect lunch or snack, rich in flavour and made perfect with crunchy bread!
Ingredients (makes 2 large Cubanos):
6 slices of ham
50gm butter for brushing
2 large, 6-8 inch baguette rolls (you could use any bread of your choice)
Yellow mustard for brushing
400 grams of bbq pork (thinly sliced)
6 slices of Swiss Cheese
A jar of Dill Pickles
1 Boil ham in a boiling pot for 4 minutes. Drain the pot and dry ham with a paper towel. Crisp ham under the grill for 1-2 minutes until crunch. Feel free to skip this step if you don't have time, however it does add some extra flavour and texture!
2. Have other ingredients ready for assembling the sandwich. Slice 10 dill pickles in half longways, and have other ingredients out and ready.
3. Slice the baguettes in half longways and brush all over with butter. Crisp in a sandwich press or on a hot oiled pan for 1-2 minutes each side. Brush the inside of the baguette halves with mustard.
4. Time to assemble, layer the ham, then the cheese, then the pork, then the pickles on a baguette half before adding the other half to complete the sandwich. Ensure you have enough ingredients fort both Cubanos. Repeat to make the other Cubano.
